Zulum awards N62 million in scholarships to 24 students in Borno

Borno state governor Babagana Zulum has approved the payment of N62 million in scholarships for 24 impoverished law students and those doing French immersion courses.

The secretary of the State Scholarship Board, Bala Isa stated this on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, in Maiduguri.

The funds were also utilized to purchase a vehicle and a secretariat for the National Union of Borno State Students (NUBOSS), according to Isa.

He said that 19 students from Nigeria’s six law school campuses received legal scholarships, while five students from the Benin Republic received French language awards. “Because Borno borders three French-speaking countries: Cameroon, Niger, and Chad, the French language is very important to our people.” That is why Borno is sponsoring people to get a master’s degree in French,” Mr Isa explained.

In his response, NUBOSS national president Abubakar Wajiro praised the Borno government’s support for students and pleaded for food.

We want to thank Zulum for his commitment to remaining a beneficial to students governor.” “We are grateful for the scholarship for students, the vehicle, and the appropriate office for our union,” Wajiro remarked.
