School Administrators Encouraged to Prioritize Digital Education Investments
|Incorporating digital learning into the curriculum is something that educator and digital entrepreneur Joyce Ugbosu has emphasized are essential for school owners, administrators, and directors.
Ugbosu discussed her involvement in Nigeria’s tech and educational sectors during the briefing.
Research shows that early introduction of digital learning to children has enormous benefits and can set a child ahead of their peers, according to Ugbosu, founder of Infosys Digital Solutions and Lakewood British School, who works in the tech/education space.
Proper use of digital learning can improve critical thinking, access to educational resources, creativity, problem-solving abilities, and cognitive development in children. It may also improve the quality of individualized instruction.
She urged the government to use all of its resources to invest in the education sector, with a focus on giving school owners financial support so they can build the necessary infrastructure for digital learning in Nigeria’s primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions.
7.9 percent of the budget was allocated to education in 2016. Before being raised to 7.1 percent in 2018, this was reduced to 6.1 percent in 2017. In 2020, the sector’s allocation plummeted to 6.5%, and in 2021 and 2022, it received 5.7% and 5.4%, respectively.
