The allowance for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) participants in Benue State has increased thanks to Governor Hyacinth Alia.
On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at the NYSC Orientation Camp Wannune, Tarka Local Government Area, the governor made the declaration during the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch B Stream 1 Orientation course.
He stated: “Serving National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in the state will now be given an increased monthly allowance of N15,000, while those who are medical professionals will be given a monthly allowance of N100,000.
The governor made it clear that the purpose of this increase in allowances is to boost corps members’ morale and recognize the importance of their contributions to strengthening national unity. The state government will pay the N15,000 allowance to every corps member posted to Benue State, regardless of where their primary assignments are, while the higher N100,000 allowance is given to doctors.
During their year of service, Governor Alia urged the corps members to take advantage of every chance to better themselves and the world.
In order to help the state and the country as a whole grow and develop, he urged them to use their skills and talents.
The governor emphasized the value of their role as change agents and urged them to “exhibit values like integrity, innovation, and compassion.
The governor’s generosity and dedication to the welfare of corps members were praised by Abe Ashumate, the NYSC coordinator for Benue State, in particular for providing food and necessities for the corps members while they were at the camp.
All categories of corps members in Benue State were previously receiving a N10,000 monthly allowance from various state governments prior to this announcement.
The increase in compensation is viewed as a positive step toward acknowledging and appreciating the efforts made by these young people serving their country.
