JAMB Warns CBT Centers Over Monitoring Failures

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has issued a strong warning to all accredited Computer Based Test (CBT) centers across Nigeria, insisting that their surveillance systems must be fully visible and accessible from its central monitoring control room

According to the Board, any center’s whose monitoring system cannot be properly accessed in real time risks serious consequences, including the invalidation of registration or examination activities The directive is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen transparency and maintain integrity in the conduct of examinations nationwide

In a statement released on Monday by the Board’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB emphasized that strict compliance will no longer be optional as it intensifies oversight across its approved CBT centers

JAMB Moves to Strengthen Exam Monitoring Nationwide

The examination body explained that the new directive is aimed at improving real time supervision of all CBT operations across the country It noted that surveillance systems play a critical role in ensuring fairness, accountability, and credibility during registration and examination processes.

JAMB stressed that every accredited centers must ensure its CCTV and monitoring equipment are properly configured and visible from its central command room to avoid disruptions or penalties.

Over 150 CBT Centres Already Flagged

The Board revealed that more than 150 accredited CBT centres were recently found to be inaccessible through its monitoring system during the last registration exercise

As a result, those centres were denied payment for services rendered, signaling the seriousness of the Board’s enforcement measures

Officials warned that this trend could lead to more severe consequences if not corrected immediately, especially as the Board continues to tighten its operational standards.

Heavy Sanctions Await Non Compliant Centres

JAMB made it clear that any of the 989 approved CBT centres that fail to comply with the monitoring requirement may face strict sanctions These penalties could include suspension of registration activities or outright invalidation of examination processes conducted in non compliant centres The Board also hinted that affected centres may forfeit payments for services not properly delivered under its guidelines

The Board reiterated that the policy is part of its broader commitment to ensuring transparency and safeguarding the integrity of examinations across Nigeria

By enforcing real-time monitoring, JAMB aims to reduce malpractice, improve oversight, and ensure that all CBT centres operate within approved standards
