UTME 2024: A comprehensive guide to enrolling in the JAMB DE exam

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced some key results from the just completed 2024 UTME.

The Registrar JAMB, Ishaq Oloyede made the recent announcement during a news conference held at Bwari the outskirts of Abuja where the board’s premises is located.

According to Oloyede, over 1.94 million people enrolled and took the exam in 118 towns and over 700 locations across the nation.

The exam started on Friday, April 19th, and ended on Monday, April 29th.

from the 1,989,668 candidates that registered for the 2024 UTME, it recorded 80,810 absentee. A total of 1, 904, 189 participants took the UTME within six days of the exam.

“Out of the 1,842,464 released results, a paltry 0.4% scored above 300 while 24% scored 50% (200/400) and above,” the JAMB chief said.

He stated that 1,1,402,490 applicants scored less than 200, accounting for 76% of the total. However, JAMB reiterated its decision not to reveal the identity of the highest-scoring candidate.

“It is common knowledge that the Board has, at various fora, restated its unwillingness to publish the names of its best-performing candidates, as it considers its UTME as only a ranking examination on account of the other parameters that would constitute what would later be considered the minimum admissible score for candidates seeking admission to tertiary institutions,” Oloyede noted.
