UNIMED sets up Partnership with the College of Surgeons

The West African College of Surgeons and the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED) in Ondo City, Ondo State, has signed a Memorandum of Partnership.

The contract, which was inked at the WACS Permanent Secretariat in Yaba, Lagos, would allow practicing surgeons from Nigeria and the West African area to pursue a Ph.D. program at UNIMED.

In a press release signed by the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adesegun Fatusi, said the relationship was a significant turning point for Nigeria and the West African sub-region.

The appealing aspect of this collaboration is that it allows any prospective student to have his or her Ph.D. dissertation research overseen by the best experts and top scholars within Nigerian and West African universities and health systems who are Members of the West African College of Surgeons,” he said.

Prof. Emmanuel Ezomme, President of WACS, stated in his address that the collaboration with UNIMED will be extremely beneficial to both the college and the university.
