Mmesoma Ejikeme, 19, who fabricated her UTME results, has been given permission by Prof Charles Soludo , Anambra state Governor to undergo three months of psychotherapy.
Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, the commissioner for education Anambra state, made this declaration at a briefing in Awka, the state capital, on Thursday, July 21, 2023.
Psychotherapy aids individuals in altering attitudes, feelings, and behaviors that may be problematic or upsetting.
Mmesoma made headlines when she claimed to have received a 362 on the UTME in 2023.
She actually received a 249 on the exam, according to information provided by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
The Anglican Girls Secondary School student from Nnewi, Anambra, initially refuted the assertion but later admitted that she had falsified the result.
In the midst of the drama that ensued, JAMB removed her score and barred her for three years from taking the test.
Speaking about the development, the commissioner stated that Soludo’s directive came as a result of the committee’s recommendation, which was set up by the state government to look into the case.
Following the student’s psychotherapy, according to Chuma-Udeh, the state will meet with the JAMB management to “reconsider one or two things.”.
What Mmesoma did was regarded by us as “juvenile delinquency,” to which any child was susceptible she said.
The state government will make an appeal to JAMB management on her behalf to reconsider one or two things while she is in therapy for the next three months under the supervision of a psychotherapist counselor. ”.
