Results for applicants who took the Senior School Certificate Examination, or SSCE, in November/December 2022 will be made public, according to the National Examinations Council, or NECO.
At Minna, Niger State, on Thursday, NECO Registrar Prof Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi said that 59,124 candidates have undertaken the examination, with 31,316 male candidates (representing 52.96%) and 27,808 female candidates (representing 47.03%).
According to Wushishi, there were 58,012 candidates who took the English Language exam, of whom 44,162 (76.13%) received a credit or higher. There were 57,700 candidates who took the Mathematics exam, of whom 43,096 (74.69%) received a credit or higher.
He also revealed that 33,914 candidates, or 57.36 percent, received five credits or more on the exam, which includes English language and math.
Also, 46,825 candidates, or 79.20%, received five or more credits, regardless of their proficiency in English or mathematics, he added.
Regarding examination malpractice, he claimed that 11,419 candidates had been accused of various offenses, compared to 4,454 in 2021, which indicates a considerable increase in the number of malpractice cases.
He claims that the monitoring officers’ improved skill and plan are substantially to blame for this.
This resulted in the blacklisting of four supervisors—two from Ogun State and one each from the Rivers and Plateau States—for assisting and abetting as well as subpar monitoring, he claimed.
Recall that NECO administered the 2022 Senior School Certificate Examination, or SSCE, External, from November 21 through December 21, and that the results were announced 57 days later on this day.
Wushishi continued by stating that, similar to 2021, a total of 29 patients were tested.
