The manual confirmation or stamping of candidate certificates has been discontinued, according to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
Candidates who took the West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) between 1999 and the present are affected.
According to a statement from the council, this is because of the recently developed WAEC Digital Certificate Platform, which was created for a quick and easy way to provide stakeholders with the certificates of their candidates.
“The West African Examinations Council Nigeria is pleased to inform institutions, organizations, agencies, embassies, high commissions, and the general public that the Council will no longer provide manual confirmation or stamping of certificates of candidates who sat the WASSCE from 1999 until date,” it stated. “The Council has launched the WAEC Digital Certificate Platform for a seamless and timely mode of availing stakeholders of their candidates’ certificates.”
The message went on to say that initiatives were being made to widen the platform so that it could support candidates who were born in 1980 and that the public would be updated when new information became available.
