Yobe Varsity Barred from Accepting New Students into Medicine Program

Yobe State University is not permitted by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) to admit undergraduate students to the Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) program for the 2023–2014 academic year.

A circular with the reference number YSU/P/CMS/CIR/Vol contains the prohibition. issued by the varsity administration on July 18, 2023, and dated 1/15.

The circular had the heading “STOPPAGE OF MBBS I ADMISSION FOR 2023/2024 ACADEMIC SESSION BY MEDICAL AND DENTAL COUNCIL OF NIGERIA (MDCN)” and was printed with that text.

make reference to MDCN/1390/Vol., the accreditation visitation report. The team from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria presented I/65 to Yobe State University on April 27 and 28, 2023, regarding the aforementioned subject.

I’m writing to let you know that the MDCN has ordered a halt to MBBS 1 admissions for the academic year 2023–2024; we ask that interested candidates and their parents be patient.

There are hints that the University was unable to fulfill the fundamental requirements necessary for the course to receive full accreditation, which would explain why the ban was implemented.
