Students hail Gov Aliyu over payment of scholarship grant

Sokoto State Students Association of Usmanu Danfodiyo University (SOSSA-UDUS) has praised Gov. Ahmed Aliyu regarding the most recent distribution of scholarship awards to 7,477 state residents.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Aliyu gave the state Scholarship Board instructions to pay the students grants totaling more than N500 million upon taking office.

The group’s Chairman, Mr. Abdullahi Aliyu, spoke to reporters in Sokoto on Sunday and characterized the governor as a resourceful individual and an enthusiastic leader of the study program.

He emphasizes that Gov. Ahmed Aliyu is commitment to making student life in Sokoto state as enjoyable and comfortable as possible.

As part of the funding for the construction of 75 new junior and senior secondary schools in Katsina, Governor Dikko Radda has sanctioned 2.7 billion.

Ibrahim Kalau, the governor’s top press secretary, said in a statement on Wednesday that the 2.7 billion constituted only 20% of the whole sum needed to pay contractors managing the construction projects.

He said that the governor’s campaign promise was being fulfilled with the permission.

In all 34 of Katsina state’s local government areas (LGAs), Radda has approved the release of $2,737,603 billion for the erection of 75 junior and secondary schools, according to the announcement. He gave the contractors the go-ahead to finish the full project in a year.

The governor went on to say that there is no question that this new construction will greatly enhance education in Katsina State.”
