Foreign NGO to build Islamic University in Jigawa

The World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY), a renowned non-governmental organization (NGO) with headquarters in Saudi Arabia, plans to establish an Islamic University in Jigawa State as part of its efforts to advance and raise the state’s educational standards.

Hashem Mohammed Abdelsalam, The director of the organization, revealed this information to Jigawa State Governor Mallam Umar Namadi who visited WAMY’s office in Kano yesterday

In keeping with our goal to strengthen communities and advance education, he declared, WAMY is currently starting a massive project to found an Islamic university in Jigawa State.

Following Alhikmah University’s success in Ilorin, the organization is ready to replicate this model of excellence in Jigawa State in an effort to promote educational growth and improve the state’s educational environment.

A further promise made by Abdussalam highlighted WAMY’s dedication to Jigawa State by stating that Jigawa State would be given priority consideration for scholarships and other humanitarian efforts.

With the endorsement and assistance of Governor Namadi, he continued, WAMY has finalized plans to conduct an eye exam and medical outreach in the state in September.

The director also recalled that WAMY first entered the nation in 1973, just a year after its founding, and that since then, it has been actively engaged in a variety of humanitarian activities, primarily in southern Nigeria.

The establishment of the WAMY office in Kano, however, was made possible by a Jigawa State resident’s kind donation of a plot of land in 2000, he continued.
