According to Dr. Oluropo Ojo of the Lincoln Medical School in the United Kingdom, several volunteer medical experts in the diaspora have pledged to provide specialist training and medical services free of charge once the program begins

Dr. Ojo also revealed that prospective donors are prepared to supply essential medical equipment immediately the Medical School receives final approval to commence operations

The growing international collaboration is seen as a major boost for the university’s ambition to deliver globally competitive medical education in Nigeria

Vice Chancellor Praises Founder’s Commitment

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Philip Oguntunde, commended the Founder of the university, Chief Michael Ade. Ojo, for his continuous investment in the institution’s growth and development

Professor Oguntunde described the Medical School initiative as a transformative project that would benefit not only the university community but also Nigeria’s healthcare sector

He noted that the institution is optimistic about the successful take off of the program adding that students and stakeholders are eagerly awaiting its commencement

NUC Verification and Curriculum Preparation in Progress

The Registrar of the university, Mr. Omololu Adegbenro, disclosed that the Medical School curriculum has already been fully developed

According to him, the curriculum is currently undergoing review while preparations are ongoing for the National Universities Commission’s resource verification exercise

This stage is considered one of the most critical requirements before the official approval and launch of any medical program in Nigerian universities

Advanced Medical Equipment Already Available

Speaking on the institution’s readiness, the Chief Medical Director of the University Medical Centre, Dr. Lanre Olatunde, expressed confidence in the university’s existing medical infrastructure

He explained that the medical facility already possesses modern, high grade medical equipment, some of which are rarely available in Nigeria

The availability of these advanced facilities is expected to provide students with hands on clinical exposure and practical medical training once the programme begins

Proposed Medical School to Strengthen Health Sciences Programs

The Acting Dean of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Dr. Alice Ogundele, described the project as a major breakthrough for the university’s health sciences ecosystem

She explained that the Medical School would enhance existing programs such as Nursing while creating more opportunities for training in critical healthcare disciplines

Stakeholders believe the initiative could contribute significantly to addressing Nigeria’s shortage of healthcare professionals and improving the quality of medical education nationwide
