Imo State University (IMSU) has officially commenced the sale of its Post UTME and Direct Entry admission forms for the 2026/2027 academic session The university management announced that online registration has started for candidates seeking admission into various undergraduate programmes offered by the institution
The announcement has generated excitement among prospective students across Nigeria, especially candidates who scored 160 and above in the 2026 UTME IMSU also confirmed that candidates who did not initially select the university as their first choice institution can still apply after completing a Change of Institution through JAMB
Interested applicants are strongly advised to complete their registration early and ensure all required credentials are properly uploaded on the JAMB portal to avoid disqualification during the admission process

UTME Candidates
Candidates applying through UTME must:
- Score at least 160 in the 2026 UTME
- Choose IMSU as their first choice institution
- Possess the required O’Level credits relevant to their chosen course
The university also disclosed that candidates who initially selected another institution but scored 160 and above can still apply after changing their institution to IMSU on the JAMB portal
Direct Entry Candidates
Direct Entry applicants must possess approved qualifications such as:
- OND
- HND
- First Degree
- A’Level Certificate
- Other recognized equivalent qualifications
Applicants are expected to present qualifications related to their intended course of study
Important Notice on JAMB Result Upload
The management emphasized that all applicants must upload their O’Level and qualifying results on the JAMB CAPS portal
This requirement has become increasingly important in recent admission exercises across Nigerian universities
How to Apply for IMSU Post UTME Form 2026/2027
Eligible candidates should carefully follow the registration procedure below:
Step 1: Visit the IMSU Portal
Applicants should visit the official IMSU admission portal and click on the “2026/2027 Post UTME/Direct Entry Application” link
Step 2: Verify Eligibility
- Enter your JAMB Registration Number to confirm eligibility for the screening exercise
Step 3: Generate Invoice
- Generate an invoice using your JAMB Registration Number as the invoice number
Step 4: Pay Screening Fee
- Candidates are required to pay a non-refundable screening fee of ₦2,000 and print their payment receipt afterward
Step 5: Complete Online Registration
- After successful payment, candidates should return to the portal within 24 hours to complete the application form online
Step 6: Print Acknowledgement Slip
- Applicants must print the final acknowledgement slip, which will be required during the screening exercise
IMSU Registration Deadline and Important Updates
The university announced that the application portal will officially close on Thursday, 25th June, 2026
Candidates are encouraged to use IMSU Microfinance Bank for smoother payment processing and easier access to the application portal
Meanwhile, the university noted that the date and schedule for the aptitude test will be announced later
The admission notice was signed by Mr. Cajetan N Curtis Azubogu, Acting Registrar and Secretary to the Senate
Prospective students are advised not to wait until the final days before completing their registration process
