UniAbuja Student Remanded Over Alleged Sexual Assault Case

A UniAbuja student sexual assault case has sparked public attention after a 40 year old law student of the University of Abuja was remanded in Kuje Correctional Facility over serious allegations involving a 100 level medical student

The case, which is currently before the FCT High Court, centers on claims that the defendant allegedly lured the young student under the guise of helping her access the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) The court’s decision to deny an oral bail application has intensified interest in the unfolding legal battle

Authorities say the incident is still under investigation, and the matter has been adjourned for further hearing as legal proceedings continue

Court Orders Remand of UniAbuja Law Student

The defendant, identified as Monday Goodluck, was ordered to be remanded after appearing before Justice M.S. Idris of the FCT High Court on Wednesday

The court rejected an oral bail request made by the defence counsel, Samson Francis, insisting that a formal written application must be submitted and properly served to the prosecution before any bail consideration can be made

The judge subsequently ordered that the suspect be held at the Kuje Correctional Facility pending further proceedings

Allegation of Luring Student Under NELFUND Promise

According to the prosecution led by Alexander Agbo, the accused allegedly deceived a 100 level Medicine and Surgery student into visiting his residence

He reportedly claimed he could assist her in securing approval for the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), a federal student financial aid initiative

Prosecutors allege that the meeting took place at about 11 p.m. on March 25, where the alleged sexual assault incident occurred

Court Adjourns Case for Further Hearing

Following preliminary arguments, the court adjourned the matter until June 9 for continuation of hearing

Legal observers note that the next sitting will focus on bail application review and further examination of the prosecution’s claims

The case has continued to draw attention within the university community, given the seriousness of the allegations and the academic status of both individuals involved
