LASU Wins ₦25m JAMB Merit Award

Lagos State University (LASU) has added another major achievement to its growing list of successes after receiving a ₦25 million award from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB)

The prestigious recognition came during the 2026 JAMB Policy Meeting held in Abuja, where LASU was honoured under the National Tertiary Admissions’ Performance Merit Award (NATAP M Awards) The latest development comes shortly after the university emerged as Nigeria’s most preferred institution for the 2026 admission exercise

With over 84,000 UTME candidates selecting LASU as their first choice institution, the university continues to strengthen its reputation as one of the leading public universities in Nigeria

LASU Emerges Among Top Institutions in Nigeria

Lagos State University secured the position of Second Runner Up Institution in the overall category of the prestigious NATAP M Awards for the 2025 admission year

The institution recorded an aggregate score of three points across the five assessment elements used for the Mega Award category during the 6th edition of the awards

The recognition highlights LASU’s strong performance in admissions management, transparency, institutional excellence, and student administration

JAMB Presents ₦25 Million Award to LASU

The ₦25 million cash prize was officially presented to the Vice Chancellor of LASU, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji Bello, during the 2026 JAMB Policy Meeting held on Monday, May 11, 2026, in Abuja

The presentation was made by the Registrar of JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, in the presence of education stakeholders and representatives from tertiary institutions across Nigeria

The award further reinforces LASU’s growing influence in the Nigerian higher education sector

LASU Remains Nigeria’s Most Preferred University

Earlier in the 2026 admission season, LASU emerged as the most subscribed university in Nigeria for the second consecutive year

According to official figures, a record 84,326 candidates selected the university as their first choice institution during the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration

The impressive number reflects the increasing confidence students and parents have in the institution’s academic standards, learning environment, and administrative structure

Vice Chancellor Reacts to the Achievement

Reacting to the twin achievements, the Vice Chancellor described the recognition as proof of the university’s commitment to excellence, innovation, transparency, and student centred administration
