JAMB Speaks on 2026 UTME Original Result Slip Printing Delay

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released a fresh update concerning the printing of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) original result slips

The examination body clarified that the portal for printing the original UTME result slips has not yet been activated, urging candidates across Nigeria to remain calm and patient The announcement comes amid growing concerns from students seeking admission into tertiary institutions for the 2026 academic session

JAMB explained that several important examination processes are still ongoing, including the conduct of foreign UTME examinations and preparations for the mop up examination for affected candidates

JAMB Explains Why UTME Original Result Slips Are Delayed

JAMB’s Public Communication Adviser, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, disclosed in an official statement that the board is still finalising critical procedures before enabling candidates to print their original result slips

According to him, the UTME is not just an ordinary examination but a ranking system used to determine candidates’ positions for admission consideration into Nigerian universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education

Because of this, the original result slips contain ranking details that can only be released after all examination activities and administrative adjustments have been completed

Mop Up Examination Still Ongoing

The examination body also revealed that preparations are ongoing for the 2026 UTME mop up examination

Who Will Participate in the Mop Up Exam?

JAMB stated that the mop up exercise is specifically designed for candidates who were unable to participate in the main UTME examination through no fault of theirs

This includes candidates who experienced technical issues, biometric verification problems, or other approved challenges during the main examination period

The board recently completed the foreign UTME examinations and is now focusing on concluding all pending processes before activating the result slip printing portal

Candidates Asked to Remain Patient

Dr. Fabian Benjamin assured candidates that the printing portal would be activated shortly after all necessary adjustments are concluded

He also apologised for the delay and appealed to students, parents, and other stakeholders for understanding

Once the portal becomes active, candidates will be officially informed on how to proceed with printing their original UTME result slips, which are often required for admission screening and clearance processes
