The announcement comes as thousands of candidates across Nigeria prepare for post UTME screenings and admission processes into universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and nursing institutions The update gives candidates another opportunity to review and adjust their admission choices based on their UTME performance and preferred schools
JAMB also warned applicants to carry out all changes only through accredited CBT centres to avoid fraud, mistakes, or invalid applications that could affect their admission chances
JAMB Opens Portal for Change of Institution and Course
JAMB confirmed that eligible 2026 UTME candidates can now proceed with changes to their selected institutions or courses
According to the Board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, candidates who wish to modify their admission choices are expected to visit approved Computer Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide
The Board emphasized that the process must not be done through unauthorized agents or cybercafés, as this could lead to errors or possible scams
Candidates Advised to Use Accredited CBT Centres Only
JAMB stressed that all admission related modifications must be handled through officially accredited CBT centres
The Board noted that its centralized system is designed to ensure transparency, accuracy, and security during the admission process
Candidates are therefore advised to verify the authenticity of any CBT centre before making payments or submitting personal details
Original 2026 UTME Result Slip Printing Begins May 18
In addition to the change of institution process, JAMB announced that printing of the original 2026 UTME result slips will commence on Monday, May 18, 2026
The original result slip is one of the key documents required during admission screenings and clearance exercises by tertiary institutions across Nigeria
Candidates are encouraged to print and keep multiple copies for future use during admission processing

The 2026 UTME exercise recorded massive participation nationwide, with over 2.2 million candidates registering for the examination
UTME Results Released So Far
JAMB revealed that:
- 632,752 results were first released for candidates who wrote the exam on April 16, 2026
- Another 1,264,940 results were released for candidates who sat for the April 17 and 18 examinations
- A total of 1,897,692 results were released within the first three days of the exercise
- The examination was conducted across more than 1,000 accredited CBT centres nationwide
JAMB Retains 2026 Admission Cut Off Marks
JAMB also maintained its minimum admission benchmark for the 2026 academic session
The approved minimum cut off marks include:
- 150 for universities and Colleges of Nursing Sciences
- 100 for polytechnics and some other tertiary institutions
The Board also retained the minimum admission age of 16 years for all candidates seeking tertiary education admission in Nigeria
New Admission Policy to Begin in 2027
JAMB announced a major policy shift that will take effect from the 2027 admission cycle
Under the new policy:
Universities and polytechnics offering similar programs will still require UTME participation
The policy has generated mixed reactions among Nigerians, with some supporting easier access to teacher training while others fear it could reduce academic standards
