The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has disbursed more than N527.8 million in institutional fees to support 5,448 students of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) and Niger Delta University (NDU), Bayelsa State
The latest payment represents another major intervention under the Federal Government’s student loan scheme, designed to reduce financial barriers and help Nigerian students continue their education without being forced to drop out due to unpaid fees
Both universities confirmed receipt of the funds through official acknowledgement letters, appreciating NELFUND for its support and commitment to improving access to higher education in Nigeria
UDUS Receives N401.7 Million NELFUND Payment for 4,323 Students
Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), confirmed that it received N401,752,080 from NELFUND as the second batch of registration fee disbursement for the 2025/2026 academic session
The payment covers 4,323 students whose institutional fees were supported through the education loan program
According to the acknowledgement letter signed by the university’s Bursar, Faruku Koko, on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, the funds were received through the institution’s e-Collection account on March 24, 2026

- UDUS management expressed appreciation to the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of NELFUND, Akintunde Sawyer, and his team for the financial support
- The university also expressed hope that more students would continue to benefit from future disbursements under the scheme
Niger Delta University Gets N126 Million for 1,125 Students
Meanwhile, Niger Delta University (NDU), Bayelsa State, confirmed receiving N126,070,000 from NELFUND to support the payment of school fees for 1,125 students
The acknowledgement letter dated July 24, 2026, was signed by the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Allen Agih
The Vice Chancellor described the intervention as a significant boost to students and the university community

Prof. Agih acknowledged the payment and thanked NELFUND for its continued efforts toward improving access to education and supporting Nigerian students
He noted that the funds would assist beneficiaries in meeting their academic financial obligations and staying focused on their studies
