The Oma Life Rescue Foundation education scholarship project has announced an ambitious plan to transform the lives of one million Nigerian children through access to quality education, mentorship, and leadership development over the next 10 years
The non governmental organization unveiled the Dream Educational Scholarship Project in Abuja, revealing plans to support about 100,000 children annually through scholarships and other educational opportunities aimed at reducing barriers caused by poverty and financial difficulties
The foundation said the initiative is designed to ensure that talented Nigerian children are not denied the opportunity to achieve their dreams because of economic challenges, while calling for support from government agencies, private organizations, and development partners
Oma Life Rescue Foundation Launches 10 Year Education Initiative
The Oma Life Rescue Foundation has introduced a decade long education program aimed at enrolling one million Nigerian children in schools through scholarships, mentorship, leadership training, and other support systems
Speaking during the launch in Abuja, the foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Omanibe Ameh Sanusi, explained that the Dream Educational Scholarship Project goes beyond providing financial assistance to students
According to her, the program represents a long term investment in Nigeria’s future by creating opportunities for children from disadvantaged backgrounds
“Talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not,” Ameh Sanusi said, urging individuals, government institutions, corporate bodies, philanthropists, and development organizations to support the initiative
Project Targets 100,000 Beneficiaries Annually
The foundation revealed that the scholarship initiative aims to reach approximately 100,000 children every year as part of its broader mission to improve access to education across Nigeria
The program will provide beneficiaries with:
- Educational scholarships
- Mentorship opportunities
- Leadership development programs

- Career guidance and support
The foundation stressed that educating one million children cannot be achieved by one organization alone, noting that collaboration among stakeholders will be critical to achieving the goal

Dr Ameh Sanusi appealed to education stakeholders and development partners to contribute towards the success of the program through funding, technical support, advocacy, internships, and mentorship
She noted that poverty remains one of the major factors preventing many Nigerian children from accessing education, adding that collective action is needed to ensure that financial hardship does not destroy young people’s aspirations
The initiative comes amid concerns over Nigeria’s high number of out of school children, with experts linking the challenge to poverty, insecurity, displacement, flooding, and other socioeconomic difficulties
Federal Government Promises Partnership With Scholarship Program
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard Doro, praised the foundation’s 10 year education commitment, describing it as a demonstration of serious dedication to improving the lives of vulnerable Nigerians
Doro said the Federal Government would collaborate with the organization by using available social registers to identify children from vulnerable households who could benefit from the program
According to the minister, the initiative should focus beyond school enrolment by ensuring beneficiaries gain practical skills and opportunities that can lead to sustainable employment
Program To Include Skills Development And Job Opportunities
The minister encouraged private sector organisations to support the project through:
- Apprenticeship programs
- Internship opportunities
- Employment pathways
- Skills development initiatives
He explained that the success of the scholarship project should not only be measured by the number of children enrolled in schools but also by whether beneficiaries can achieve financial independence and improved living conditions
Oma Foundation Plans Rehabilitation And Wellness Institute
Beyond education support, the Oma Life Rescue Foundation announced plans to establish the Oma Life Rehabilitation and Wellness Institute in Abuja
The proposed institute will provide services including:
- Mental health support
- Psychosocial assistance
- Rehabilitation programs
- Vocational training
- Healthcare services for vulnerable individuals
The foundation added that partner organizations will assist in identifying beneficiaries and monitoring the implementation of the scholarship program to ensure transparency and effectiveness
