OSPOLY Mgt order non-academic staff  to resume work on July 31

All non-teaching employees of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, have been ordered to report back to work on Monday, July 31, 2023, by the school’s administration.

The instruction was contained in a memo that was obtained by our reporter on Friday, July 26, 2023 and was signed by Mrs. F.O. Apara, the Acting Registrar.

All full-time and part-time employees were told in the memo to report to their assigned duty locations because the institution was not closed.

The memo stated : “Since the institution is not taking a break, I am required to tell all non-teaching staff members (permanent and part-time) to report to the office and be at their different duty positions without fail on Monday, July 31, 2023.

The order follows a planned peaceful demonstration on Thursday, July 28, 2023, planned by the institution’s Students Union Government. The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic and the State Government were given a 24-hour deadline by the student body to resolve their differences and permit academic activities to resume on campus.

On Tuesday, July 25, 2023, Schoolslover reported that OSPOLY ASUP members had protested outside the building after Tajudeen Odetayo was removed from his position as rector, which had an impact on the Part-Time students’ ongoing exam.

The protest resulted in the institution’s closure after the examination process was disrupted. Until further notice, all academic activities must remain suspended, the protesting group insisted.

The management made the decision to call on the non-teaching staff members to resume their duties in response to the developing situation, signaling an effort to return the institution to normalcy.

All parties involved are urged to keep a close eye on the situation as the deadline for academic activities to resume on July 31 approaches to determine whether classes will actually start up as planned.

It is hoped that a peaceful solution can be found to all parties’ concerns and create an atmosphere that is favorable for learning and working at Osun State Polytechnic.
