Gov. AbdulRazaq approves ₦10,000 for Kwara student

Students of Kwara origin enrolled in publicly owned tertiary institutions will receive payments of 10,000 each, according to Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

Additionally, the Governor has approved a stipend of 10,000 Naira ($10,000) per agent for some categories of security personnel, to be paid out by the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) Office.

The scholarship program is an alteration from the former bursary award, which was only available to tertiary institution final year students. All Kwara State students enrolled in publicly owned tertiary institutions will receive a one-time payment of 10,000 as part of the new plan. The bursary grant for students in their final year has already been raised by the Governor from 5,000 to 10,000.

The Governor has formed a committee to supervise the distribution of funds in order to ensure the smooth coordination of the support.

According to a statement from the governor’s chief press secretary Rafiu Ajakaye, the committee will be led by the chairman of Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KWSUBEB), Professor, Shehu Raheem Adaramaja

The committee will be made up of representatives from the National Association of Kwara State Students (NAKSS) and the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in Kwara State, as well as officials from the Ministry of Tertiary Institution, the Department of Bursaries, and the Ministry of Finance.

Eligible students must submit the required paperwork and information via a web link that the committee will publish in order to apply for the state bursary support. Additionally, specific dates for the application procedure will be disclosed.

The governor’s initiative aims to give money to students and security personnel who act as the state’s first line of defense. The government of Kwara State is working to improve the welfare of its citizens by funding education.
