JAMB Fixes June 13 for 2026 UTME Mop Up Exam Amid Technical Issues

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced June 13, 2026, as the date for its UTME mop-up examination for candidates who were unable to complete the main examination

The announcement comes after several candidates experienced technical problems and biometric verification challenges during the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination conducted nation wide in April The development is expected to bring relief to affected candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions across Nigeria

JAMB explained that only candidates who were successfully verified biometrically but could not sit for the examination due to circumstances beyond their control would participate in the mop up exercise

JAMB Announces Date for 2026 UTME Mop Up Examination

The examination body disclosed that the mop up examination will take place on June 13, following reports of technical difficulties at some Computer Based Test (CBT) centres during the main UTME exercise

According to JAMB, the 2026 UTME was conducted between April 16 and April 23, but certain challenges disrupted the smooth conduct of the examination in some locations

The board stated that the decision to organize a mop up examination became necessary to ensure fairness for all affected candidates

Candidates Eligible for the Mop Up Exercise

JAMB clarified that the mop-up examination is specifically for candidates who:

  • Were biometrically verified
  • Reported at their examination centres
  • Could not sit for the examination due to technical problems
  • Had issues linked to withdrawn results caused by examination infractions investigations

The board also noted that some candidates could not complete their registration verification process successfully during the examination period, making them eligible for reconsideration.

JAMB Speaks on Technical Problems During UTME

In a statement issued by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, the examination body admitted that some centres experienced operational challenges

The board explained that the technical failures made it impossible for many candidates to take the examination despite arriving at their designated centres on time

JAMB reassured candidates that all verified and affected individuals have already been identified and listed for the upcoming mop up examination

What Affected Candidates Should Expect

Candidates scheduled for the mop up examination are expected to monitor JAMB’s official communication channels and print updated examination slips before the examination date
