Governor Radda approves N2.7bn to build new secondary schools classrooms

As part of the funding for the construction of 75 new junior and senior secondary schools in Katsina, Governor Dikko Radda has sanctioned 2.7 billion.

Ibrahim Kalau, the governor’s top press secretary, said in a statement on Wednesday that the 2.7 billion constituted only 20% of the whole sum needed to pay contractors managing the construction projects.

He said that the governor’s campaign promise was being fulfilled with the permission.

In all 34 of Katsina state’s local government areas (LGAs), Radda has approved the release of $2,737,603 billion for the erection of 75 junior and secondary schools, according to the announcement. He gave the contractors the go-ahead to finish the full project in a year.

The governor went on to say that there is no question that this new construction will greatly enhance education in Katsina State.”

Armed men Kidnaps Ex-povost of the college of education Ogun

Ayodele Ajayi, the recently-retired provost of the Federal College of Education (FCE), Osiele near Abeokuta in the Odeda LGA of Ogun state, was kidnapped by gunmen on Tuesday.

Around 7 o’clock at Ikija village on the Abeokuta-Ibadan road’s Olodo axis, Ajayi reportedly was kidnapped along with his wife and driver.

The kidnappers later released his wife.

A local resident told NAN that the gunmen attacked Ajayi and other drivers on the road after emerging from the nearby bush.

The source claimed that after firing into the air, the shooters blocked the road and abducted their victims.

The resident was quoted as saying that just yesterday (Monday), the gunmen kidnapped five people, but two of them were later released.

3 people were also killed last month. A well-known businessman who ran a sizable farm along the axis was one of those killed.

This week, the Olu of Odeda, Oba David Olorunisola, was almost abducted;  the driver who was shot wounded  is still receiving medical care at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Abeokuta.

The police public relations officer (PPRO), Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident and stated that security personnel are pursuing the kidnappers.

She continued by saying that the command had received a direct message and a distress call from FCE Osiele staff stating that Ajayi had been abducted.
