NANS praise Tinubu over approval of buses to tertiary institutions

Comrade Sunday Asefon, the immediate past president of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the provision of buses to the student bodies of all universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education nationwide to lessen the impact of the removal of subsidies on the students.

In a statement released on Monday in Abuja in response to the development, Asefon, who is also the National Coordinator of the Tinubu/Shetima Student Vanguard, said it was a welcome development that had been well-received by the student community.

Along with that, he praised the President for removing all restrictions from the recently approved Students Loan Scheme.

The provision of the buses, according to President Tinubu, would also relieve parents and guardians of the additional financial burden of daily commuting.

The open warning sent to all heads of tertiary institutions regarding the arbitrary increase in tuition fees is still the best action taken by the new administration to further restore the love and respect of all Nigerian students for President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

No administration has ever given youth and students such high priority, which is why I’m grateful to President Tinubu.

While urging all universities, including the University of Abuja, University of Lagos, and University of Jos, among others that recently increased their payable to reserve with immediate effect in accordance with this presidential directive. He begs them and others to exercise caution and abstain from any actions that might stoke students’ opposition to the new government in Nigeria, such as arbitrary pay increases.

He claims he has no regrets about leading President Asiwaju’s Renewed Hope campaign across the campuses of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) during the electioneering campaign on behalf of Tinubu/Shetima Students Vanguard because Asiwaju has validated our efforts and has in fact restored hope among Nigerian students.
