On Tuesday, the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka in Anambra hosted a formal foundation-laying ceremony for the construction of the N1 billion students center sponsored by BUA group.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Uboh Udoh, the Managing Director of the Abdul-Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa), said that six universities in total—one from each of the nation’s six zones—would benefit from the gift.
The building’s architectural design, according to Udoh, who called it both magnificent and distinctive, was the first of its kind in Nigeria
He claimed that when choosing each institution that would benefit, the group took into account accessibility, university rankings, and other factors.
The BUA group’s education intervention has already benefited about 30 tertiary institutions in Nigeria; the initiative is meant to advance our socioeconomic development, as the speaker noted.
“Words, according to Prof. Esimone, VC UNIZIK, are unable to fully convey the institution’s satisfaction for the project.
Esimone gave the students advice on the importance of excellence, noting that the project had been attracted to the institution because of its stellar performance.
The building’s designer, Mr. Okey Ezeobi, claimed that it had a variety of elements.
The Students Center includes, among other things, a suspended arts theater with 1,000 seats, an orientation center, an office for student union officials, a further help center for students, and indoor sports facilities.
Students, professors, and the recently elected president of the UNIZIK Students’ Union Government all attended the occasion, the News Agency of Nigeria reports (NAN).
